Re: Stainless steel and magnets

Well it turns out the wire piece does respond to a magnet but only just. The single magnet I used isn't quite strong enough so Plan B is to dangle eight of them in the tank tomorrow.

I can't wait.

Not yet. The key I was given to open the hangar door, doesn't. Also, the fuel drain taps I ordered have tapered threads whereas the original ones don't.

Re: Stainless steel and magnets

You want to come up here ? That'll work. Old Mike needs another 8 hours flying by late May and it's his aircraft so we could kill two birds with one stone. Looks like you're busy Friday so if the weather's do-able over the weekend and you are free? Jebus, get a room. Hell hath no fury like a grandp...

Maybe Mac might let you borrow this?? http://www.mactools.co.uk/rate-mac-tools-products/59-15m-extra-long-pick-up-tool Now that would definitely work. If...

Stainless steel and magnets

Question for the panel. A friend has managed to separate his fuel cap and chain from the springy bit (similar to pic below). The latter has fallen into the tank (I can see it in there, all shiny and elusive, and he has asked me to fish it out, somehow. I know it is stainless steel but it isit likely...

Any way to pick them off? If so I've a nice quiet air rifle and a few days off owing. Will work for tea and biscuits. Image
