How do you know if the viscous coupling in an engine fan is working of not.
With the engine hot but not running should you be able to spin the fan or should there be resistance??

When the engine is cold, it should spin freely, when the engine is hot, it should be hard to turn or even nearly impossible on a big engine.
If it's fooked, it will be hard to turn when cold.

I'm guessing it's not his hairdryer.
