I had a little 12 volt compressor cheap thing made in China.
Great for blowing up tyres and the odd use.

Yesterday I managed to kill it trying to blow up my air sofa to sit in the sun.
So I ended up sitting on a half inflated sofa wondering what to buy next to replace it.

Any recommendations

That may well be excellent, but compressors don't generally like pumping large volumes at near-atmospheric pressure, and are inclined to overheat and die prematurely, as Tel found. If you can be bothered, the cheapest (and probably most effective) option is to buy one of the silly cheap little inflators to keep in the car or whatever, and also an airbed inflator for high volume low pressure. Both of them are easy to get for around £15 each, and work ridiculously well for the price (and 12V power consumption).

PS I think both together may come to about £15:

and

I don't own either myself, but I've used other people's which look identical, and despite the fact they're crap, they do work remarkably well.

The one I've got will pump a Landrover sized tyre up from flat in just over a minute.
I don't want it for blowing up sex toys.

Bet you can't resist the occasional bouncy castle though.

Many years ago we hired a bouncy castle for our daughter's 6th(?) birthday. After dark when the kids had gone home my wife and I took it for a spin. Ten years later at my daughter's 16th birthday my wife told my daughter in front of her friends. The look on her face was priceless.

Outgrossing teenagers. Great fun.
