I don't know enough about it, but there was a scientist on the radio a while ago, pre ban, saying that banning/removing approval, without scientific evidence about what effect they have on bees is wrong. I'm not sure if anyone really knows what is going on with the bee population, it just seems like there is a problem and people are just saying "something must be done" and that something is neo nics.

They announced last week that (I think) 5% of OSR seed for this year can have neo-nic dressing. Who gets that 5% I do not know. But it can't be that bloody deadly if they are not putting in a blanket ban across 100% can it?

I am good friends with the former head of Morley Research, in Norfolk.

He told me, last year, that there is no scientific evidence whatsoever on which to ban Neo-Nics.

As an agricultural scientist himself, he said that the decision to ban was 'purely political' - and he should know what he is talking about!

This is the stupid EU all over. Being run by former commies and 'Green' arseholes.

We are having a discussion about them over here. Hard to know what the deal is, I know you can't buy corn seed without it on, I've tried.

Our Monarch butterfly population is down 90%, or so I've been told. I would be very upset if we lost this species.

So in America you can't get seed WITHOUT neo-nic dressings. In UK you can't get seed WITH neo-nics. Brilliant.

My understanding is that they were banned in France. As we know, if France can't do something then neither can the rest of the EU. Then the press never let the truth get in the way of a good story.

Give me a seed dressing over a spray any day
