This may be a stupid question, well actually there's no may about it.

The farm may well want me to be back up sprayerer now they have bought a new one and gone on to liquid fert.Had my pa1 and 2 for a long time but not done any spraying for a bit so have no NROSO points.Getting them shouldn't be a problem as they will already be sending my mate off to keep getting his so will just tag along but just wondering if they issue you with a card or anything to say you have points and how many do I need for the year?

Thanks in advance,yours stupidly Bloomers.

Yes you get a card. Just like when you join the library.
30 points needed every three years. You can carry over ten (I think) into your next three year term.

You get a card with your membership number on it, i'll sell you mine for a knock down price.
Don't know if they are high tech enough to keep a digital record of your points tally.
When i were doing it i think they just thought of a number and halved it.

They have made it a little bit harder to get the points now. In the early days you almost got them for looking at a sprayer in a neighbours field.
The Winter Workshops that give you ten points for a half day course are the best way to secure them nowadays, and the way that NROSO seem to wish us to do so.

Thanks guys, just what I wanted to know.Sprayer looks a bit technical so may take me a while to get the hang of it.

Think that's the way they tend to do it so hopefully tag along on one after Christmas.

NRoSO? Load of old bollocks. You need 30 points in 3 years as Raggy says. I get mine from 'Agronomist meetings' and NSTS test attendance (another load of shite. My sprayer is my livelihood. If it isn't right, I'm ffuked and don't eat, but still need a cetificate from someone who doesn't know one end of it ftom the other). Sometimes I need to attend the 10 point course to catch up. Then I waste half a day being talked at by people whose last experience of actually doing the job involved a 40 foot manual fold Ransomes Hawk. Ffukin expensive sausage roll.

You are spot on.As it it the top man is a stickler for everything being just so.If I was having to sort it out myself I'd give it a miss for the amount I will be doing,if any.

You pay an amount each year and have three years to get 30 points, when i was doing it would end up with 30 points a year at least.

If you joined in jan you would have until 2019 to get your 30 points.

just get the card.

Get the boss to book you on one of them half day courses 10 points job done
Oh and get him to enrole you on noroso as well he wants you to spray so let him pay for it

Them courses are pathetic and getting worse every year , tried telling us yesterday to take the end caps off the boom when cleaning out

erm weve been on boom recirculation since 1991

1/2 hr waffle yesterday on flying drones :o

No mention of grass weed control or BG at all I guess that will come up in about 20 years

Final question yesterday was "what 3 things will you take away from today "

a, a KitKat
b, a new wooly hat
c, a desire to get more points elsewhere next year

Actually the lass training laughed and admitted it was the weakest course yet

We are only getting into Sprayer courses over here . I have mine done but the brother who does most of the Spraying spent two days last week listening to a guy who found the Manual for a Dorman G sprayer and read half of it . Our Sprayer has three ways of measuring ground speed and this guy was back in the dark ages and wanted to measure 100 metres with a pile of calculations . If he had spent a half hour showing him how to back it into corners for the weed spray it would make the combine drivers job easier .
