Apologies for the duplication ... again but I think it's important.

Dairy Form & Producer Register
In response to the on-going dairy crisis and challenge to re-address the balance in dairy contracts the NFU has on behalf of all dairy farmers recently issued the ‘Dairy & Producer Register Form’
. The EU Dairy Package allows farmers to form producer organisations or PO’s. A PO or association of PO’s could represent up to 33% of the UK dairy market or 3.5% of the EU market, which is a significant volume of milk.
The NFU has worked to establish a Voluntary Code of Practice for dairy contracts, but for some producers, the best way to negotiate a better contract or a better price will be collectively. PO’s could change the way the dairy market operates by empowering elected farmer representatives to negotiate better terms for dairy farmers.
About the database:
The dairy form & producer register is not a questionnaire, petition or appeal to signal discontent. The purpose of the form is to allow for the collection of dairy farmers contact & milk buyer details (members & non-members alike) in an independent database.
The purpose of the database will be to help groups of farmers interested in forming a PO (i.e. the information will be shared with third parties – subject to data protection). The NFU has started this process on behalf of all dairy farmers and we require the help of all stakeholders and their members to see it become a success. The process is likely to roll on through this Summer & Autumn (2012).
By signing the form you are not committing to form a PO, just consenting to be contacted by someone who wishes to form a PO, for instance to attend a meeting etc.
