Aermotor windmill/pump

Post by Flintstone » Tue Aug 08, 2017 2:04 pm

A friend is clearing out his sister's place following the passing of her husband and among other things has found a wand-driven pump which he thinks is an Aermotor.

The tower and blades are outdoors but seem to have held up, the gearbox has been stored indoors. Any market for these or weigh it in?
Hold still, it's nearly in.

They were reasonably common when I was a kid, when a lot of farms didn't have mains electricity or water, but they weren't particularly reliable or cheap to maintain, and I haven't seen one in use for many years.

I bet there is a market for them now amongst green loonies. I'd try the Centre for Alternative Technology in Machynlleth, not far from Aberystwyth. They may have a sales and wants board, maybe even an internet based one, but I don't want to pollute my own computer with records of contacting them!
