Harvest 2020

Post by Coltheox » Sun Jul 05, 2020 1:18 pm

Just seen the first combine working in this area.

A bloody great Claas something on a field of winter barley in the Six Mile Bottom area, not far from Newmarket.

If we have a fine week, I reckon there will be some winter barley hacked down.

More winter barley around this year.

After the mixed and showery weather, today has seen a real start to the harvest. Lots of winter barley and oilseed rape now being knocked down.

Been on a 'Rural Ride' around the Newmarket area today. Lots, if not most now, of the winter barley has been harvested.

Wheats are beginning to go off fast now. A field near to me has its ears well over. If we get a spell of good weather now, it looks as if it will be all hands to the pumps!!

Went out to watch cricket yesterday. Got there and it rained!!! Typical!!! :D

Saw some wheat had been harvested - the first wheat done that I had seen this harvest.

All the winter barley and oilseed rape around here appears to have been done. When the weather gets settled, it will be all go, I reckon.

Went to Royston yesterday evening. Most crops down that way already harvested. Not much left to do around this area now.
